What is data transfer?

Data Transfer is the total size of file transferred and generated from ftp upload, download and browsing web pages from your account.

Where are the servers located? And how is the bandwidth of the datacenter?

Keynet' s Server uses Linux O/S, located at Hong Kong's Datacenter, all together equipped with over 1300Mbps bandwith connected to HKIX、Netplus、UUNET. We also provide umlimited bandwidth to all out clients.

Does KeyNet provide any trial account?

Keynet does not provide any trial account for clients, but you can try to download a file http://www.keynet.com.hk/speedtest.zip to test the speed.

What is the difference between "Domain Only User" and "Domain with web-hosting user"?

"Domain Only User" refers to users who registered their domain name through KeyNet but did not use our web-hosting service."Domain with web-hosting user" refers to user who registered their domain name through KeyNet and used our web-hosting service at the same time.

Do I need to provide a student card for applying student hosting plan?

No, it is not required.

Are my price and services I bought in special offer sustainable?

Does KeyNet allow clients to store, publish or distribute any multi-media files and software such as mp3, realplayers?

Yes, if you possessed the copyright and right from the related authorities.

Game site using Flash and JavaScript is allowed. But CGI game site is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

Do the hosting plans support ASP?

No.

Does KeyNet support FTP Function?

Yes, of course.

Do KeyNet's hosting plans include a domain registration?

No, but hosting clients can use a discount price to register a domain.

Does KeyNet provide Telnet or WebMail?

We provide WebMail to the email users, but we do not provide Telnet access to the clients because of security reasons.

What is the Perl, PHP and MySQL version which KeyNet uses?

Perl 5, PHP 8.0, MySQL 8.0 or above.

What is MySQL? Do I need it?

MySQL is one kind of database which is used online. Database is to store a huge amount of data in a clear structure which can fasten the data retrieval. General Website does not need to use such function except you would install a phpBB forum or some MySQL programs.

What is the storage of MySQL?

MySQL storage space is calculated together with the web space.

How to upgrade my hosting plan? How much is required?

Existing Clients could contact us for upgrade. We will inform you the price for upgrade by email. The upgrade will not have additional charges. After we received your payment for upgrade, we will make the upgrade within 1 day accordingly. Since our webhosting and email service charges yearly, if you have used our service for 6 months, you only need to pay the remaining 6 six months' upgrade fee.

Which version of Java and Tomcat do we use?

Our JVM is running Tomcat 8.0 under Sun JDK 1.8.

Could I use Jsp/Servlet to connect MySQL database?

Yes, sure.

How much space for the email account? How is it calculated?

All new clients could make use of Qmailadmin which is a web-based email account management interface to set up quota for each account or share quota for all accounts.

Old Clients :
Each account will be default as 5MB.If you would like to change the default settings, please inform us by email. We will change the settings for you within 1 working day.

What is Forwarders and Autoresponders?

A forwarder is an email redirect tool that redirects your emails to another mail account e.g. aaa@hotmail.com. Each email account could set up its forwarders.
Autoresponders is an automatic email that sends to the sender immediately to notify him that the email was received.The autoresponder's email is configurable.

What is POP3 and SMTP?

Do I need to pay for exceeding email quota?

No, you don't need pay for over-quota storage. It is because once the quota is excceded, your account will not receive any email until the quota is enough to receive new emails. The sender will receive an email notification that tells the sender about the account over-quota.

How long will my account activate after the payment?

After payment completes, clients will receive a email about the account information. The domain and account will be available to use within 24 to 48 hours in general:

How to renew my services in KeyNet?

When domain come to expire, Keynet notify domain registrant by email a renewal reminders serveral times, they are 30, 7 days, 0 day before and 5 days after the expiration of a domain name. It is suggest to make the payment before the expiry day. Existing clients can follow the payment method and amount stated in the email to renew their services before the expiry date.

If clients would like to upgrade or transfer to another package, it is required to fill in the online application form again and make the payment as a new application.

What is Sub-domain?

If you domain name is www.test.com, abc.test.com can be one of the sub-domains. This is to divide you website into different divisions in order to have a better management.

Why the price of domain registraton is not expensive as others?

We are one of the resellers of a US Registrar, thus we can help you to register a domain at a reasonable price.

Does the domain I registered belong to me?

Sure, it belongs to you because we use your personal information to register.

Can I transfer my domain and hosting to KeyNet?

Sure, you can first fill in the application form online and then you can call us for more details.

How long does the DNS take to update and propagate to the Internet?

DNS update takes about 24 - 36 hours.

What is the domain fee?

The price for new domain registration and renewal are the same except specified. Keynet resevered the right to adjust the domain registration and renewal fee. Please see the domain registration page of our website.

What is the domain renewal process?

When domain come to expire, Keynet notify domain registrant by email a renewal reminders serveral times, they are 30, 7 days, 0 day before and 5 days after the expiration of a domain name. It is suggest to make the payment before the expiry day.

If you did not receive renewal reminders, please contact us immediately. If your domain name has expired, renew it immediately.

Once your domain has expired, it will be in Auto-Renew Grace Period (for 0-45 days), followed by a 30-day Redemption Grace Period. At the end of the Redemption Grace Period, you will not be able to renew your domain name. Your domain name will be released for registration by third parties.

Domain names that are in the 30-day Redemption Grace Period can be redeemed (or renewed) before the end of the Grace Period. The fee is the total of redemption fee plus the number of years to be renewed. There are NO REFUNDS on renewals or redemptions after you make the payment. Domain after the redemption period cannot be recovered. For redemption fee, please ask us because different Registrars have different redeemption fee.

(Though this applies to most common TLDs, dot hk, dot cn domain and some TLDs do not have Redemption Period or a different recovery process.)
